A gothic bubble-pop jewel, and a Critics' Choice pick in Billboard (which hailed Farley as "a vital new talent"), the disc is a sonic bloom for weary ears. And the provocative, extremely controversial back cover art is sure to cure blurred vision.
11 MP3 Songs
POP: Beatles-pop, POP: Power Pop
Details:
My first album, which will always be my favorite baby, I think. After this disc came out, people I'd known for 10 years or more would suddenly tell me their excruciating life stories, full of hidden dark secrets, blind alleys and broken hearts.
Obviously, the disc hit a nerve, and I was moved by the effect it seemed to have. Of course, the back cover artwork only added fuel to the firestorm, with some loving it and some practically spitting at it. I'd leave performance venues while people at the bar were still arguing over whether it was art or...just plain offensive. (You be the judge!)
There aren't many of Daddy's Little Girl left, which is why they're priced at a premium. But the songs will forever be available at iTunes afterwards.
Just as an FYI, this disc got a Critic's Choice pick from Billboard, which in a later cover story hailed yours truly as one of NYC's ten best unsigned acts that year. Every major label and publisher you could imagine was calling, but they're all gone now, replaced by discount fliers from Domino's and local Chinese restaurants. Hmmm....think I'll get that ginger chicken again. Delish!
