Magen White started her musical career in 2002 when she discovered her natural ability for singing and songwriting. Soon she discovered that people wanted to hear more of her, so she decided to pursue music full-time.
After being part of two pop-punk bands (Never On Sunday and Two Weeks To Go), Magen started an acoustic duo known as Look Mom No Hands with her cousin and longtime musical companion, Barry Thornburg.
Within the first few months of forming the group, Barry and
Magen self-produced a six-song EP, The Asteroid Years, and
set off on a Southwest tour, hitting up such cities as Las
Cruces, NM, Phoenix, AZ, and Santa Monica, CA. They received nothing but positive feedback on the road.
With their success, the two continued to play in various
venues in the Albuquerque area, gaining a local fan
base.
In May 2006, the duo simultaneously released a full-
length album and had a swift name change. Barry left on a two-year religious obligation to South Africa, so Look Mom No Hands became the solo project now known simply as Magen White.
Before Barry left, the two went on another Southwest tour in June 2006. They visited many cities, including San Bernardino, CA, Phoenix, AZ, Denver, CO and Oklahoma City, OK.
Magen is now playing solo shows in Albuquerque, and is currently planning a Northwest tour for November. An EP is planned to be released in the beginning of next year along with a special edition DVD.
