It's the return of Malik B of The Roots. He's a wizard of rhyme patterns, and brings uniqueness to the art. This highly anticipated project showcases Malik B's aurally explosive, uncut raw freestyles.
13 MP3 Songs
HIP HOP/RAP: Hip Hop, HIP HOP/RAP: East Coast
Details:
Malik B AKA Malik Abdul Basit
Born: November 14, 1972 Philadelphia, PA
Discography
1993 Organix (The Roots)
1995 Do You Want More?!!!??! (The Roots)
1996 Illadelph Halflife (The Roots)
1999 Things Fall Apart (Grammy: Best Rap Duo or Group "You Got Me")
2004 "Gray Matter" (Featured on 12" record with Maylay Sparks AKA Rasheed of ILL Advised)
2004 FDME Presents: Malik B Street Assault
What started out as guest appearances on Organix (The Roots first album, 1993) for the South Philly native, transposed into a full-time career for this anomaly of an Emcee named Malik B AKA M_Illitant AKA M-80 AKA.....He's world reknowned. He's toured throughout all of U.S and Europe. He's performed with the legendary Last Poets and Roy Ayers to jam sessions with Jill Scott.
Malik B has also recorded, toured and performed with a plethora of artists including:
Erykah Badu, Guru, Common, Q-Tip, Flow Brown, Beanie Siegal, The Pharcyde, De La Soul, Busta Rhymes, The Fugees, Scott Storch, James Poyser, DJ Premiere, Diamond D,
Many would assume his demise following Things Fall Apart. They assumed wrong. While being nomadic by nature, it was inevitable for Malik B bumps heads with Hakim Woods of FDME to produce what some would call a confessional album consisting of raw freestyles from the gut.
This ill CD was created by Malik B and F.D.M.E's Emcee Haak Blast to start a buzz for Malik B's solo recordings. However, it became bigger than expected! Because of "Street Assault", Malik B will now be on The Roots' last album on Geffen Records coming 2005.
