Country/Rock storytelling songs in the vein of Jimmy Buffet and Jackson Browne
12 MP3 Songs
COUNTRY: Country Rock, COUNTRY: Traditional Country
Details:
After years of pursuing a day job as an attorney in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Mark Paul Smith has opted to reach for his dream in the music industry of releasing his first solo CD. Filled with twelve story-telling tunes compared to Jimmy Buffett, The Eagles and Jackson Browne with a smooth rolling vocal edge, Mark Paul Smith has assembled a team of seasoned musicians to support him on his CD - John Morreale on bass; Thomas Cooley on drums; Kenny Taylor, Kerry Marx (and Mark Paul) on guitars; Larry Pester and George Conner on piano; Jesse Hawkins on violin; Kenny Holycross on pedal steel guitar; Nick Gulacsy on accordion; Paul Kioebge on banjo and Chet Chambers on tambourine. Amy Maxwell assists Mark Paul, Kenny Taylor and John Morreale on background vocals. Mark Paul sings lead vocals on all songs, plays harmonica and is the principal songwriter. Robin Jenney (Zapp, Teddy Pendergrass) signed on as producer for the project which was recorded at Jenney's Sweetwater Studios in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Mark Paul Smith is a veteran heartland country rocker who has played from Chicago to New Orleans and everywhere in-between. He's written hundreds of songs for albums and films, and was formerly in the band Dive Bomberz. The multidimensional Smith owns his own law practice and has been a trial attorney, standing up for the little guy, for more than twenty years. His entertainment background uniquely qualifies him to represent artists of all kinds. His country and rock songs tell great stories, some of them very humorous and still very true-to-life.
The "Drivin' All Night" CD art sports Smith on (of all things) a scooter. "I figured it was one way of drivin' all night and getting nowhere," Smith remarks facetiously about his CD insert pose. "I'm motivated by the spirit of song. I would like to make people dance and have fun, and I hope these songs accomplish that for my audience."
