The Bull And I is the debut album from drummer / songwriter / producer Matt Vucic. (pronounced view-sick). Combining Rock, Jazz, and African styles, Matt has created a contemporary collection of songs that move the listener along much like a film score.
Matt has spent the last decade living in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Throughout this time he has had the opportunity to work with many different artists, whether in the recording studio or on the road touring. Liz Berlin (Rusted Root, Solo artist) asked Matt to play drums on her recent release âAudioBioGraphicalâ. He will also accompany her live performances. Matt has played drums with Mark Dignam (folk singer/songwriter). He was a co- founder of Yves Jean Band, (rock) touring extensively and recording drums on two of the bands albums- Been Many Days Empty and Rise above Your Surroundings. With these and various other projects including session work, touring, and production, Matt has gained invaluable experience, and it shows on his debut album. The Bull And I is not a âdrummerâsâ album. The focus of the record is not to show off drum chops. Its strength lies in the songwriting, musicianship, production, and rhythm. Matt enlisted only the best musicians for this project. Singers Jody Abbott (Squonk opera, Solo artist) and Bruce Harris (Studio artist) are featured vocalists. Along with bass player Anthony Pecora (studio musician), Matt leads the listener along with strong, âin-the-pocketâ rhythms from beginning to end. Matt continues to write new material drawing on many influences of music. With his new songs and many of the same musicians who recorded on this album, Matt will be focusing on live performances. After two years of writing, Matt will now bring the diverse dynamic of The Bull and I to the stage.
