I had set out originally to record a few of the Christian songs I'd written over the past few years, not expecting that it would evolve into a Christmas CD in just a few short months. My love of Christmas and all it celebrates, all the memories it stirs up, and the hope and joy it always brings is what inspired these melodies and lyrics that still move my heart as I listen to them, and I pray they would do the same for you. I drew ideas from contemporary Christian songs, poems I wrote back in high school, and even random melody lines that my fingers had tapped out on the ivories over the years. I praise God for the variety of songs He gave me in such a short period of time. One song is a lullaby to baby Jesus. Another one is sort of an antithesis to Silent Night. While another calls attention to the many things that start happening around us at Christmastime, my favorite lyric being "when the calendar's thinned to a leaf like the trees everywhere, that's how you know it's Christmas." And that's one of the ways which I hope you'll enjoy this Christmas and more importantly the Christ in Christmas - by listening to this music, reflecting on its meaning, and resting in the arms of the God who blesses us so abundantly one season after another (Ephesians 3:20).
