Hard Road was written and recorded during August of 2006, inspired by Woody Guthrie records. The end result is a series of snapshots of Mark Eliott's life since his last record, capturing equally it's pain and glory. Much of the record revolves around the hardships of day to day life, and the quiet longings that come with it. He recorded it accompanied only by his acoustic guitar to echo his confessional vocals.
After the pain and bitterness of 2005's Dead City Fix, Hard Road finds Mark at more at peace with himself and where he's heading. Even so, Hard Road is his most lively and exuberant record thus far.
