Details:
Swiss Disco-Rockers Herr Bitter present their new album âHurt my Earsâ, leaving its raw predecessor âSome Peopleâ behind them - without losing any of their authenticity or relevance. âHurt My Earsâ cleverly makes the jump from Electric-Post Punk, New Wave, Hip Hop and Crossover into the present, without diminishing any of these genres. The band's music oscillates between energetic driving beats, straightforward warm guitar riffs, pumping bass lines and quivering synth sounds.
With thrust, rhythm and melody, the band ponders the irony of knowing its own irrelevance "...I would sell myself, for an illusion and a hot cup of tea..." (Sing Along), dreams of unfulfilled ambitions "...you get caught in what we all gonna get caught in..." (Inconvenience) and the joyful rejection of todays virtual fun society "...everything I know, messes me up..."
(Disconnected).
Herr Bitter's music is packed full of contrasts. Through the warm bubbling bass, the sweetly embedded cheerful synth hook-lines, there is always a haunting sense of a slight paranoia in the lyrics "...the inhabitants of this town look like huge insects unknown..." (Sing Along). Or when the band crashes down from a cosy swing groove in âA Signâ, into the oppressive discomfort with one's own existence evoked in the text "...I feel lonesome, when you're around - but I feel more alone when I'm on my own...".
Herr Bitterâs powerful wish to escape the unloved, but real world, and yet remain even more strongly interwoven with it, becomes clear as you follow this band through their musical desire for ecstatic mayhem â a desire which becomes clearer and stronger after several listenings: Hurt My Ears.
