Details:
I lived a year and a half of my life, crafting this album.
I started writing the songs, with the intention of doing something I'd never done, writing true love songs, in the spirit of the Beatles, Chuck Berry, The Creation...
Why is their music so warm, soothing, exciting, comforting...?
I immersed myself in 60's Rock, especially the psychedelic stuff.
I was living in a "haunted house", in San Francisco. It was like a portal to another dimension, really.
I hired my co-producer, Bruce Bennett, to help with the arrangements, and production. He's an incredible composer. I call him, my "George Martian"!
He always sees things from an angle that I wouldn't imagine.
I also brought in Prairie Prince (XTC, Todd Rundgren, Tom Waits, The Tubes...) on Drums.
And, Tony Platt to mix and co-produce "Too Much Monkey Business"
I hired lots of local engineers, studios, musicans...
Honestly, I went all out on this one, as if it might be the last record I make.
I decided to commission Prairie Prince to hand paint the cover.
I did as little editing as possible, in order to maintain a spontaneous, carefree vibe.
And, there is NO autotune, at all.
Platt and I agreed, for Rock, it limits expression (I love it as an effect, don't worry).
I worked very hard on the mixes and mastering, using the same system that Bruce Botnick used to remix all the Doors Records, recently, UA Quad Cards and plugs, gave me a million dolllar studio, in the box (computer)!!!

Geoff Knoop is the driving force behind Love Not Dead, a brilliant one-man indie juggernaut. Not constrained by a full band and the ensuing schedule conflicts, egos, and posturing, Geoff invites people to record with him and to share the stage at live gigs. Or, when all else fails, he just does everything himself. Comparisons to Guided By Voices' Robert Pollard are not without merit; Geoff combines crafty, hook-laden songwriting with earnest and compelling vocals to create a swirling maelstrom of 60's-infused Britpop with a modern San Francisco edge. His latest offering, 2442, is nothing short of an indie masterpiece.
