10. I Just Canât Do Without Christmas (from the Motion Picture Ira Finkelsteinâs Christmas)
I cannot say thank you enough to the people who helped me get to the place I am now and for letting me live out my dream of creating this album.
RobâThank you for taking me under your wing and teaching me some of the most valuable lessons Iâve learned in my whole life. You knew when to push me to be the best I can be. Thank you for all the late nights you spent recording, mixing, playing sleigh bells, etc. for this album⦠Every time I hear âI Just Canât Do Without Christmasâ I think of you in your studio, by yourself, with a crazy look on your face at 2 am recording sleigh bells! Oh the things you did to make this record pass the âgoose bumpâ test! I appreciate you listening to all my ideas and showing me that it always takes good old-fashioned hard work to get just about anywhere⦠You really put your heart and soul into this album and are great at writing melodies that can break a heart. You have also become one of the best writing partners, and Iâm looking forward to writing more with you in the near future!
Mom, Dad and RachaelâWithout your endless Support and love this album wouldnât be here. Yes, I did mean to capitalize support because your support is no ordinary support, it is the best support anyone could ever ask for. Youâve been so helpful in the process of making this record by giving me your input on everything. Really, without you, no one could be reading this. I couldnât have done it without your love and willingness to help with anything. Thank you for doing all that you could to make sure I had a chance to be successful and that I could do what I love.
To my family and my friends who feel like familyâI also couldnât have done this without your love. Thank you for always stopping whatever you were doing, whenever, just to come support me! All of you are always expressing endless excitement for my music⦠thank you for all the years you spent coming and watching talent shows, plays and open-mic nights. Thank you for instilling the confidence I needed.
To the MusiciansâKevin Afflack, Ryan Brown, David Crigger, Jason Paige, Scrote. Thank you for adding your own special vibe to make the album even more interestingly awesome to listen to. I really appreciate the time you spent helping me!
To the ones who inspired the songsâThank you for being the barefoot, young, courageous, humble, sweet, irresistible people who get me through the storms of life. You are extraordinary people who deserve to have your stories told through music. Thank you for impacting my life in such a beautiful way and showing me thereâs never too many things in life to fall in love with.

Sweet Escape
(Annie Bany, Rob Shrock)

This hometownâs getting smaller
every day
just take my hand and pull me closer
letâs run away
you will be my Sweet Escape
Grab the keys to your blue Camaro
and weâll get out of town
tonight is Vegas, then Arizona
gonna cover some ground
you will be my Sweet Escape
You will be my Sweet Escape
Iâm with you whatever path we take
take this as a sign
that weâre on the right road
to making our dreams come true
hope this is a sign
that I should be with you
Put your hand on my shoulder
and cross the state line
put the top down, head for Boulder
and leave it all behind
CHORUS
All our friends who think they know us will say
weâre going too fast
that zero-to-sixty life ainât gonna last
CHORUS
You will be my Sweet Escape

Thought I knew it all before I met you
Iâm finding out Iâm wrong
with your long locks of wisdom
and your yellow locks of love
pebbles piling in your pockets
yet your wings float above, well
just to be fearless
is the last theyâre thinking of
Little ray of sunshine
look what youâve become
my little ray of sunshine
wish we were all Barefoot and Young
Barefoot and Young
If the odds stand against us
we wonât chance to run away
stay silent in the sandbox
and everything will be ok
but you know you can flap your wings
and you know to be who you want to be
CHORUS
Time can get the best of anybody in the end
but what if time turned out to be your very best friend?

Here We Go Again
(Annie Bany, Rob Shrock)
©2010 Sugar Cube Publishing (ASCAP), Apollo Bay Publishing (ASCAP)
This house
no longer feels like a home
these days when weâre together weâre really alone
âcause when Iâm there youâre gone
and weâre both here and itâs still wrong
itâs funny how we planned so much
and sad to me that we donât touch
I donât know whoâs to blame
but what weâre doing just turns out the same, âcause
Here We Go Again
our string of bad days
just never, ever ends
Here We Go Again
itâs getting too hard for me to pretend
over and over and over again, âcause
Here We Go Again
Your words
get cheaper every day
and you say
Iâm too selfish to have things any other way
I canât take this anymore
if one of us storms out that door
this love is bent and âbout to break
with little give and too much take
I donât know whoâs to blame
but what weâre doing just turns out the same, âcause
Here We Go Again
Here We Go Again
Stuck on this wheel
we keep on spinning
moving too fast
we forget our beginning
âround and âround
getting dizzy and falling apart
âcause when Iâm there youâre gone
and weâre both here and itâs still wrong
CHORUS
ROB SHROCKâacoustic and electric guitars; bass; wurlitzer piano, organ, keyboards; KEVIN AFFLACKâelectric guitars & solo; RYAN BROWNâdrums, tambourines, shaker, drum case; JASON PAIGEâbackground vocals
Leap
(Annie Bany, Mel Kubik)
©2010 Sugar Cube Publishing (ASCAP), Screamin Tornado Music (ASCAP)
No matter how high the grass grows
you can still cut your own path
no matter what they tell you
your gifts will replace what you lack
and you'll laugh
no matter how long it takes to get there
you'll be drawing your own map
no matter if your feet are tired
you'll be running the last lap
If you just Leap
go on grab the keys
let your heart take a ride in your passengerâs seat
if you just Leap
you'll start to believe
that no one can uproot your dreams
If you just Leap
Don't worry about your competition
or how many things you wish you would've learned
just look forward to the future
and you'll be gazing back on what you've earned
if you find you've followed that path too far
you can look back to where you came from
and remember who you are
CHORUS
You will get lost
you'll turn and toss
but you will catch a wave and ride it out to sea
tell the story when you're old
of a fish in a bowl
and you can say "That wasn't me"
happily
CHORUS

Through The Storm
(Annie Bany, Rob Shrock)
©2011 Sugar Cube Publishing (ASCAP), Apollo Bay Publishing (ASCAP)
Itâs funny how you can just turn the tide
when Iâm moving way too fast
when a raincloud is coming
you never hide
and you make the sunny day last
And youâll never know
just what your love means to me
and what this needs to be
maybe youâll see
why I never want you to leave
youâll forever keep me warm
âcause you pull me Through The Storm
Ever since lifeâs thrown a cyclone of problems my way
youâve come through
you lift me up
when Iâm feeling down
you know just what to do
The days are like years
and who would have thought you could be
a friend and a lover
when Iâm running for cover
you are all I can see
and you hold the rose by the thorns
âcause you pull me Through The Storm
Like a toy boat tossed about the sea
when I think Iâm finally broken
youâre still pulling me
And youâll never know
just what your love means to me
and what this needs to be
maybe youâll see
why I never want you to leave
And youâll never know
just what your love means to me
and what this needs to be
maybe youâll see
why I never want you to leave
youâll forever keep me warm
âcause you pull me Through The Storm

Too Far
youâre Too Far away to drive your car to get to me
blank
blank stares Iâm giving to this wall
âcuz this is turning out to be more like a âgoodbye songâ
to send off my feelings for you
like a message in a bottle
something when itâs gone you canât undo
Every other day
every other day I change my mind about you
and what Iâm gonna do
I canât keep looking back
though your necklace is still hanging âround my neck
Iâm moving on now
âcuz youâve already left town
and youâre Too Far
Too Far away to think of me
Too long
too long I spent pulling you back in my life
too hard
too hard I fought for us to stay alive
and I realize whether you know it or not
or however many lies I bought
I will still have that picture in my mind
of your perfect hair and ocean eyes
CHORUS
My mind keeps drifting back to that night on the lake
hard to think forever was so easy to mistake
losing you was not part of the plan
so much life has gone by since we were holding hands

Run While You Can
(Annie Bany, Rob Shrock)
©2011 Sugar Cube Publishing (ASCAP), Apollo Bay Publishing (ASCAP)
Head stuck in a book
she waits for the day heâll come
her guilty dream was to find love
but college was always number one
and then he caught her eye
when he touched her hand
whispered in her ear
Run While You Can
Run
Run
Run While You Can
Heâs waiting up
as sheâs climbing out the window at 2 am
looking back at what sheâs done
and how her second thoughts on tonight might win
but when he pulled her close
something snapped inside
she didnât turn around
wasnât gonna hide
Run
Run
Run While You Can
If you find the one thing that you love
donât wait
donât walk
take a chance and run
When he pulled her close
something snapped inside
she couldnât turn around
wasnât gonna hide
Run
Run
Run While You Can
Then she pulled him close
and she took his hand
whispered in his ear
Run While You Can

Let Me Down Easy
(Annie Bany, Rob Shrock)
©2011 Sugar Cube Publishing (ASCAP), Apollo Bay Publishing (ASCAP)
Tonightâs a night to remember
tonightâs the night I will surrender
the winds of change are getting stronger
and I canât hold it back any longer
in your love Iâm feeling myself drown
and letting go never felt so right âtil now
So let it be
just Let Me Down Easy
itâs alright to lose control
âtil we just canât take it anymore
even though if one day you donât hold me
Just Let Me Down Easy
I know this night wonât last forever
is this the last weâll have together?
next to you I can step into the light
Iâm holding on to you to make it right
CHORUS
I always thought Iâd just stand on the edge
before the last the three words you said
and letting go never felt so right âtil now
CHORUS
ROB SHROCKâacoustic guitar, bass, keyboards, string arrangement; KEVIN AFFLACKâbaritone guitar
Sam
(Annie Bany)
©2010 Sugar Cube Publishing (ASCAP)
When I look up to the sky
and only see the grey
can I wish for the sun
so I can see your face
or are you standing there already?
I can feel you in the shadows
I know youâre there
when the sunlight comes I know youâve heard my prayer
then Iâll know
where I can find you
âCause thereâs something in the world that Iâm missing now
I canât seem to bring myself to allow
that youâre gone
and Iâll learn some day
somehow to release
whisper through the rain
and rock me back to peace
let my tears wash far away
I know Iâll be ok
âcause you were here today
Feels like my heart thatâs sewn
with just one string
is only placed upon
baby butterfly wings
something beautiful
that I donât see
my tired eyes want to close
until you come back
every muscle feels torn
until I can relax
I feel you only complete me
this wonât be easy
CHORUS

I Just Canât Do Without Christmas
(Rob Shrock, Annie Bany)
© 2011 Apollo Bay Publishing, Sugar Cube Publishing
I can do without a new pair of shoes
or a trendier set of clothes
I can live without my video games
or the latest and greatest phone
I can deal without getting some sleep
to trim the tree and be with you
âcause I Just Canât Do Without Christmas
I can do without the fireworks
or some turkey and pumpkin pie
I can go without coloring eggs
or a heart-shaped Valentine
I can deal without wearing green
to mistletoe kiss with you
âcause I Just Canât Do Without Christmas
Something âbout the tree and the lights
and the cocoa warminâ my hands
a simple wish is to have this Christmas
Iâm hopinâ youâll understand
I can go without a sunny vacation
if my holiday dreamsâll come true
âcause I Just Canât Do Without Christmas
Something âbout the tree and the lights
and the cocoa warminâ my hands
a simple wish is to have this Christmas
Iâm hopinâ youâll understand
I can go without a sunny vacation
for holiday dreams to come true
âcause I Just Canât Do Without Christmas
I Just Canât Do Without Christmas
I Just Canât Do Without Christmas

I have had the privilege of developing and working with a lot of young talent as they were just getting started in the business who went on to great success. One of the things that immediately drew me to Annie was that she had something that most budding artists do not at such a young age⦠the gift of songwriting. In addition to having a voice that I simply dig, Annie has that knack for coming up with a great lyric line or a melody snippet that immediately pulls you in. Thatâs a gift that a writer just either has or doesnâtâand Annie has it.
As her co-writer and producer, that is exactly what Iâm looking for: a seed that comes from deep inside an artistâs experience or imagination that provides me something genuine to help construct, refine and bring to life. It may not always be autobiographical, but it is always honest and exposed⦠barefoot, if you will.
I look forward to writing more songs with Annie and watching her travel the road to becoming a world-class artist and songwriter. Her feet are pointed in the right direction, and sheâs doing it barefoot and young.

Tonightâs a night to remember
tonightâs the night I will surrender
the winds of change are getting stronger
and I canât hold it back any longer
in your love Iâm feeling myself drown
and letting go never felt so right âtil now
So let it be
just Let Me Down Easy
itâs alright to lose control
âtil we just canât take it anymore
even though if one day you donât hold me
Just Let Me Down Easy
I know this night wonât last forever
is this the last weâll have together?
next to you I can step into the light
Iâm holding on to you to make it right
CHORUS
I always thought Iâd just stand on the edge
before the last the three words you said
and letting go never felt so right âtil now
CHORUS

When I look up to the sky
and only see the grey
can I wish for the sun
so I can see your face
or are you standing there already?
I can feel you in the shadows
I know youâre there
when the sunlight comes I know youâve heard my prayer
then Iâll know
where I can find you
âCause thereâs something in the world that Iâm missing now
I canât seem to bring myself to allow
that youâre gone
and Iâll learn some day
somehow to release
whisper through the rain
and rock me back to peace
let my tears wash far away
I know Iâll be ok
âcause you were here today
Feels like my heart thatâs sewn
with just one string
is only placed upon
baby butterfly wings
something beautiful
that I donât see
my tired eyes want to close
until you come back
every muscle feels torn
until I can relax
I feel you only complete me
this wonât be easy
CHORUS

I Just Canât Do Without Christmas

I can do without a new pair of shoes
or a trendier set of clothes
I can live without my video games
or the latest and greatest phone
I can deal without getting some sleep
to trim the tree and be with you
âcause I Just Canât Do Without Christmas
I can do without the fireworks
or some turkey and pumpkin pie
I can go without coloring eggs
or a heart-shaped Valentine
I can deal without wearing green
to mistletoe kiss with you
âcause I Just Canât Do Without Christmas
Something âbout the tree and the lights
and the cocoa warminâ my hands
a simple wish is to have this Christmas
Iâm hopinâ youâll understand
I can go without a sunny vacation
if my holiday dreamsâll come true
âcause I Just Canât Do Without Christmas
Something âbout the tree and the lights
and the cocoa warminâ my hands
a simple wish is to have this Christmas
Iâm hopinâ youâll understand
I can go without a sunny vacation
for holiday dreams to come true
âcause I Just Canât Do Without Christmas
I Just Canât Do Without Christmas
I Just Canât Do Without Christmas

I have had the privilege of developing and working with a lot of young talent as they were just getting started in the business who went on to great success. One of the things that immediately drew me to Annie was that she had something that most budding artists do not at such a young age⦠the gift of songwriting. In addition to having a voice that I simply dig, Annie has that knack for coming up with a great lyric line or a melody snippet that immediately pulls you in. Thatâs a gift that a writer just either has or doesnâtâand Annie has it.
As her co-writer and producer, that is exactly what Iâm looking for: a seed that comes from deep inside an artistâs experience or imagination that provides me something genuine to help construct, refine and bring to life. It may not always be autobiographical, but it is always honest and exposed⦠barefoot, if you will.
I look forward to writing more songs with Annie and watching her travel the road to becoming a world-class artist and songwriter. Her feet are pointed in the right direction, and sheâs doing it barefoot and young.
