Mr. Deep Positivity 'the positive rap educator' is a positive roll model for children and adults!
James McBride also known as Mr. Deep Positivity wrote, produced and performed each of the songs for his new album titled,
"Deep Lessons for Life!"
James was born in Providence R.I. and lived in the Roger Williams Housing projects for 21 years. This was considered one of the toughest neighborhoods in South Providence. James witnessed drug dealing, robbery, drug abuse, drive by shootings, lost 2 cousins to murder and another cousin was even shot while sleeping in his bed. James is an only child who was raised by his mother because his father wasn't around long.
Thanks to his mother James avoided getting into trouble and went to private schools all his life. On his 21st birthday James' mother bought a house and they moved out of the ghetto. James said, "This is the best gift I ever got" . Although he escaped the ghetto without getting locked up or killed James is dedicated to helping inner city kids make wise decisions so they too can escape the ghetto's many traps and have a bright future.
James' first album, "Deep Lessons For Life" will empower children to be safer and smarter when they listen and repeat the catchy lines and powerful messages. Currently James is performing in schools and community centers throughout R.I. He is dedicated to being a positive roll model and counteracting negativity with positive rap!
On December 7, 2003 James was named the Big Brother of the year for the Big Brothers of R.I. and he also received a community service award from the Big Brothers in 2002.
In June of 2002 James made a decision that has positively impacted his life in more ways then he could imagine. After reading a scripture in the Holy Bible that stated you should take care of widows and fatherless children, James decided to make time in his busy and hectic schedule and to become a Big Brother to a fatherless boy.
In his interview with Val Sinesi, the executive director for the Big Brothers of R.I., James was asked what he does. James replied, "I work with the developmentally disabled and I'm also a producer and a positive rapper". Mr. Sinesi asked James to write a song for Big Brothers and the rest is history. Two days later James had written, recorded and returned a CD of the song he titled, "The Big Brother song" to Mr. Sinesi who loved the song. Mr. Sinesi stated that the song captured exactly what the Big Brothers are all about.
Since that day James has been on tour for the Big Brothers and has performed at many the Big Brothers of R.I.'s events including their annual walk-a-thon, Humanitarian award dinner and Christmas party. Val Sinesi and the Big Brothers of R.I. have tremendously inspired James to write more positive songs, which will educate and elevate children and adults as well. Mr. Sinesi (Big Brothers) has also acted as James' manager and has been the one who opened the doors for him to perform in the schools and community centers all across our state. To show his appreciation for their continued support James is dedicating 33 of all the profits of his album sales to the Big Brothers of R.I.
James' album, "Deep Lessons for Life" will be released on September 1, 2004 and will available for purchase at the Big Brothers of R.I. office in East Providence. The album includes 19 original songs including: The Big Brother song, Don't you Bully Me, Stay in School, You need to read, Buckle up, Raise your Kids, Neighborhood Pride, U.S.A., Choices and many other positive, inspirational songs.
The Big Brothers of R.I. and James McBride are looking for sponsors who will purchase CD's to be given out free to low-income children. All donations are tax deductible and each donated CD will have a sticker stating, "Made possible by..."and the sponsor's info on them. Please support James McBride and the Big Brothers of R.I. as they endeavor to bring wisdom and positivity to children across our state and country. To reserve your CD today, make a donation or for more info on James McBride and how to schedule a performance contact Val Sinesi Executive Director of The Big Brothers of R.I. at (401) 432-9955.
