Details:
Phil Kitze and the Resonators are based out of the greater Minneapolis area, and have been together for over 17 years. Phil, the bandleader plays electric guitar, electric slide guitar, resonator guitar, and vocals. All of the compositions were written by Phil, and 2 were co-written by Bruce McCabe, who is the piano player on the CD. Bruce is well known, and one of the most sought after piano players anywhere. He played with Jonny Lang for 10 years, and wrote many of the songs they were performing, including "Lie To Me". All of the players on the CD are very well known in the Twin Cities area. The CD features Bruce McCabe on piano, Virgil Nelson on Hammond organ, Pat Hayes on harmonica, Jimmy Greenwell on saxophone, Mr. Mark on bass, and Steve Everett on drums. One of the coolest lineups around.
Some of the songs of special interest include; "For 3 Trillion", a political song about the cost of the Iraq war, but the last verse suggests that 3 trillion should also be how many years of prison time the perpetrators of the war should get. "Backlash" is a New Orleans style instrumental with some awesome sax, piano, and guitar solos. "This Old World" is a nice shuffle about living in the city, and how life in general comes at you, and you better keep up. "Next Time Around" is a resonator tune about love gone bad. Pat Hayes, one of the special guests from the famous Lamont Cranston Band, plays some great harmonica on this acoustic blues tune. "Party at Hand" features some excellent sax and has a rock-a-billy style, about getting a party together. "Got Your Way" is a boogie about a girlfriend who is so fine that she has her way with you. "You Shouldn't Of Left Me" features killer piano by Bruce McCabe on this slow blues tune, and the name of the song tells it all. "Ain't That Fine" is a rhumba that tells about how my girl doesn't need a lot of money, a new car, or even a handsome man, and she will make a fool out of you. Check it out, and thank you.
