8-time Grammy winner Tom Pick and Harrison Tyner produced this album. The musicians backing up Bob's narrative are: Otis forrest on piano; Wendy Holcombe and Otis on fiddle; Joe Huffman on dobro; Ron Dini, Joe Huffman, David Ezell on guitar; Harold Huffman on drums and backup vocals by The Nashville Edition. May each of us give serious thought to the sactifices and cojurage of our Founding Fathers and those who so gallantly fought for freedom so many years ago, and by so doing may we all be encouraged and strengthened to willingly continue the struggle and fight for independence. Let us never forget the bloody struggles of the past and the brave men and women who have fought and died to maintain freedom - may we be more deeply resolved to honor "Old Glory."
Bob Lockwood was born and raised in the Bronx, New York. He was the son of a truck driver, and his mother was one of the original Ziegfield Follies girls. Bob attended local schools and then joined the Navy. After getting out of the Navy, Bob worked many jobs, but his last one was as a pick up and delivery driver for a rug cleaning business. He delivered the rugs of Nat King Cole, and after the rug was put back down, Nat invited Bob to have a cup of coffee with him. He asked why, with a voice like Bob's, he wasn't doing radio and/or T.V. work. He convinced Bob to attend the American School of Broadcasting, where Bob was awarded a gold microphone tie clasp and cufflinks for the "Man Most Likely to Succeed."
Lockwood has made many appearances on such programs as American Jubilee, University of Michigan Educational Films, Joe Franklin Show, New York, Independent Television Network as Top Announcer, and many many more. Bob was the announcer for 3-years for the Palisades Park "Mountain Dew" Show done live remote from WJRZ. He's appeared as an artist on WWVA's Wheeling Jamboree, and WSM's Ernest Tubb's Midnight Jamboree. He entertained in innumerous clubs in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Vermont, and Tennessee.
Bob was an actor and appearing in the Paramount Pictures film, "The Godfather," and the "Girl From Nashville." He won the BEST DISC JOCKEY OF THE YEAR award from E.S.C.M.I. four years in a row. He also taped in Nashville the only weekly country music show aired on the BBC network in England.
When first approached to do this project, Bob wrote: "As long as one student or one heart listens to this production, then I feel sure good will come from it. I am honored to have been asked to work on THE FIGHT FOR INDEPENDENCE.â
