Details:
David Booker plays rousing, listenable, and danceable jazz, blues, rock, swing, 50s rock n' roll, 60s R&B/Soul, and all other strains of Americana and roots music at venues in and around Denver and beyond.

He grew up on both sides of the Atlantic, first absorbing the skiffle sounds of Lonnie Donegan and Elvis Presley in his native Manchester as a young boy. He then spent more of his childhood in the USA, discovering Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, the Coasters, and the sounds of Rhythm & Blues, which continued after he moved back to the U.K. as a pre-teen.

His first gig was his school dance on a borrowed guitar, in 1962 aged 14, and after graduating to youth centers, pubs and clubs, he was off and running, gigging on the U.K scene with blues legend Champion Jack Dupree, and pop stars Del Shannon and Paul (Manfred Mann) Jones. In the 60s David played Portugal, Beirut, Lebanon, and the Bahamas and was a part of the famous 'Pub Rock' scene in London during the 70s.

After squeezing in two musical tours of the Seychelles Islands, David moved to Denver, Colorado in 1981, and became a radio personality for two years, after which he fronted The Red Hot Blues Band formed from the success of his Radio show, "The Red Hot Blues Show." His nickname at this time was "The Captain'" as many fans still remember. David is also remembered for leading The Alleygators, a rockin' little blues act in 1990, and a re-formed version is still gigging in the area today (please see Gigs Schedule). Right now, as well as the "Gators", David plays solo, and is also known in the swing community with The Swingtet. His most recent project is an ambitious six piece "Little Big Blues Band", that encompasses swing, blues, R&B and Soul (please see Gigs Schedule). Over the years (23 in Colorado), David has built a solid reputation for leading a real hip and fun variety band, tailored for Weddings and Corporate events Please see davidbooker.net
