"(W)eaves the rhythmic strumming of...guitar melodies
around rich vocal tones and dynamic, heady grooves."

Here are some words:
Moore, the founder and lead singer/guitarist of South Florida's popular alternative act Pale Blue Dot, mellows out on his debut solo album, a collection filled with gentle strummings and lush vocal melodies. Swirling around a distinctive voice which leaps to silky falsettos and drops into rich, creamy tenors...wait...we are beginning to make him sound like coffee...
But he IS kinda like coffee. He keeps you up all night sometimes, doesn't he? And don't you feel really tired the next day? And cranky unless you get some more of him? You shouldn't let him do that to you. You should tell him you have to work in the morning. I know you have a good time. But is it worth the pain?
Is it really worth the pain?
DEAR READER,
HERE ARE SOME THINGS MATT WROTE:
Track 1. AFTERTASTE. A cacophanous cacophany. This song was in my head one morning when I awoke. I scribbled the lyrics on the wall before I forgot them.
Track 2. HOW CAN THAT BE? I dunno. D'you?
Track 3. SCARLETT DEE. A tune about a desperate person whose quest for love becomes embarassing. Hence, we place a scarlet-colored 'D' on the chest; sorta like Hester Prynne, only less boring.
Track 4. WIND-UP BIRD. It will not always be like this. Inspired by the travails of Okada. From a novel by Haruki Murakami.
Track 5. GO WEST, YOUNG MAN. An instrumental tune written in 1996 when I was young and considering a move to Los Angeles. Recorded in 2006, when I am less young and moving to Oregon.
Track 6. SWEET SWEET FAME. Oh, the irony! The guitar tones are inspired by the lovely, growling bass lines in a few Sun Kil Moon efforts.
Track 7. APPLE TREE. The apple is from the Tree of Knowledge, from which God hath forbidden us to eat. Why? I took a bite out of the apple, see?
Track 8. BUSTED! What do you get when you fall in love? The only song I have ever composed with an exclamation point in the title!
Track 9. FLOATING WEEDS. The name of my future band. Here they are! Parading by my house! Playing music inspired by an Ozu film.
Track 10. WHOLE NEW KINDA WAY. Written in 1996 for nobody in particular. Recorded in 2006 for somebody in particular.
Track 11. JUSTIFY. Radiohead won't leave me alone. The song title comes from my niece, Emily, who writes poetry.
Track 12. PAPA. Written in December 1990, just after Papa died. Recorded using the same keyboard on which it was composed.
Track 13. OPEN. I'm not the same boy I used to be.
Track 14. ALMOND EYES. My music knows me better than I do. Has an extended, silent intro. Do not be alarmed. Thank you.
