Altenative pop/rock incorporating rap and R&B

5 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Funk Rock, ROCK: Progressive Rock

Details:
Formed in 2001 with a core rhythm section carried over from funk-horn band 17 Reasons Why. My Secret Life three years down the road has just released a five-song EP of signature tracks documenting what they do best; write great alternative pop/rock songs and play edgy pop/rock rifts.

This five track EP captures an accomplished Detroit band of musicians playing inspired [sub] urban chops elevated by breakout vocals from newcomer Nicki B. and the breakdown rhymes of Ernest Lee.

The two new performancers share space with veteran players that know when to punch and when to idle. A balanced ballet that gels into a pop mantra of rock and rap.

Marc Platt, formerly of The Xcitables, Marco & the Jetsetters and 17 Reasons Why, leads a solid musical performance while sharing the front role this time out. The EP is an example of how good rock & roll can be when each member defines themselves within the context of a shared vision.

Recorded in the summer of 2004, the EP features tracks written by veteran singer/songwriter Platt and lead guitarist Phil Vires. Nicki B. co-writes the song Get to You and Ernest Lee contributes lyrics on the title track and Think.

Having three lead vocalists is rare these days and works here to keep listeners engaged. The sessions were engineered and co-produced with Platt by legendary boardman Roscoe at his studio on Detroit's East Side.

Personnel: Nicki B. - vocals; Ernest Lee - wordsmith/ rhymes; Marc Platt - vocals/ guitar; Dan Damico - vocals/ keyboards; John Kloka - drums; Phil Vires - guitar; Jim Beckett - bass
