ALBUM INFO:
MONKEYPOX's debut, "Hey! That's MY Wife! Get Your Own!" has been re-recorded and is set for release through Dippy Records. The album features many hit songs, such as "When You Wish Upon A Yeti", "Early Morning, Late Afternoon", "No Minutes (On My Cell Phone)" & "Starting Over With Tay". Originally planned to be a reissue of the original recordings, Dippy was unable to obtain the recording license from the Sri Lanka based company Bubrakow, who once oversaw Johnson Jackson's career. As a result, the band decided to remake the album as faithfully as possible, and add some surprise touches along the way.
The band was dealt a cruel blow, however, when their drummer Santiago Sanchez was murdered in cold blood by a french radical who mistook Sanchez for Monkeypox guitarist Maurier Debbouze. A huge wake was held in Spain for the slain musician, and during this time, Junior Bevel encountered a Saudi Arabian reporter by the name of Ahmed Imo-Tep covering the story. He overheard the reporter tapping on his notepad with a pen, and his remarkable sense of rhythm struck Bevel in a very weird way. Imo-Tep was immediately recruited as the new drummer for Monkeypox. This new outfit decided to fulfill their promise to remake the album, and history was made.
Several new tracks were added to the album, including "Touching My Brain", "Yew And Aye", "Tribute To Santiago" and a collaboration between Bevel and Imo-Tep called "Shriners Help Kids". This prompted the group to release the debut as a double album set. The first single to be released will be "When You Wish Upon A Yeti/Shriners Help Kids" in March 2005, followed by "Early Morning, Late Afternoon/No Minutes (On My Cell Phone)" which will correspond with the release of the album. Further singles TBA. The album was produced by Johnson Jackson & Junior Bevel and was recorded during the period of mid February-late March 2005.
