Molly-Jean may be, by name, a solo act, but her debut album is full of accompaniment from some of Detroit's best. Produced by MATTHEW SMITH (of THE VOLEBEATS and OUTRAGEOUS CHERRY), Valley of the Doll's House features:

The album's fourteen songs range from careening garage rock to girl group to acoustic folk, showing more variety than many of her contemporaries. Her songs have been compared to a wide range of groups and singers, such as The Beatles, Belle & Sebastian, The Byrds, Margo Guryan, The MC5, Joni Mitchell, Laura Nyro, The Raveonettes, The Shangri-Las, and Elliott Smith.

Valley was released in October 2005, when Molly-Jean was just nineteen years old, on her own imprint, Sweetwist Records. She plays both guitar and bass on the album, and the songs are her own, aside from two Detroit girl group covers: "Needle in a Haystack," (originally by Motown group The Velvelettes) and "What a Way to Die" (originally by The Pleasure Seekers.)
