What do you get when a Smashing Pumpkins style drummer, a King's X influenced guitar player, GnR-esque bass lines and singer with the vocal stylings of Scott Weiland and Neil Diamond collaborate? Mound.
Mound's explosive alternative rock riffs and anth
11 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Hard Rock, ROCK: Grunge
Details:
Formed in 2003, Mound describes its music as hard alternative rock akin to Smashing Pumpkins, Sugar, Three Doors Down and Stone Temple Pilots.
While originally forming as a Detroit area act, the band has become a staple of the Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor scene, making a name for themselves by hosting and performing at a monthly tribute show as well as playing select shows in 2005 (Hamtramck Blowout, select bar gigs and benefit concerts) before releasing their debut CD in March 2006. The band is currently performing and continuing to book shows as a part of their Midwest and Eastern U.S. tour to promote the March 25, 2006 release of their debut CD âState of Moundâ.
Through the Tribute Night series, festivals and bar gigs, the band has shared the stage with several household Detroit and Ann Arbor acts including Ray Street Park, The Avatars, Corndaddy, Glori5, The Fluoride Program, Pillar of Autumn and Osmus as well as out of town bands from Grand Rapids, MI, Chicago, IL, and Mt. Pleasant, MI.
The band has built a solid following in their hometown and has expanded their catalog through the Tribute Nights by covering various artist and genres outside of their hard rock influenced sound. This includes covering bands like Nirvana, David Bowie, Smashing Pumpkins and Radiohead as well as genres like Punk and Rockabilly.
Mound has set up a web site at http://www.stateofmound.com and maintains a popular MySpace account at http://www.myspace.com/moundband; both sites include mp3s from the band's debut CD.
