Details:
Expecting, the debut CD from Moore-Healey, is aptly titled in many ways. Fans of Brandon Moore and Molly Healey have been waiting for an album of their songs for years. Whether playing together or as supporting musicians in projects too numerous to mention, both are versatile players always in demand, and their willingness to share in the music of others has made them familiar fixtures on stages across the Midwest. The musicians themselves have been eager for the release of this CD, their first full-length album of original material since Barefoot Revolution's The Daylight Album in 1999. Barefoot, their former band, toured extensively before they disbanded a few years ago, and with the release of Expecting, Moore-Healey are ready to renew contact with fans across the country. Once the recording began in 2004, the process became prolonged by a new expectation, as Molly became pregnant with the couple's first child. They finished tracking on December 26. Two days later, Annabelle Eve was born. Her heartbeat from the womb is the first sound you hear on the record, immediately followed by Brandon's striking percussive guitar technique and the trills of Molly's instantly recognizable violin. As they brought a new life into the world, so did the couple give birth to a new music - a unique combination of funk, bluegrass, and jazz influences resulting in a purely new amalgam of acoustic and electric music. But Expecting was not a creation solely of Moore and Healey, as they brought a whole cast of musicians into the studio, a testimony to the many with whom they have collaborated over the years - no fewer than 18 musicians appear on this CD. They have whittled that number down to a manageable 5-piece band to support them on tour, which includes drummer Justin Gabossi, Bill Thomas on the bass, and Grant Maleany on the saxophone. Expecting reflects the different places their music has taken them, and will be the starting point to their ongoing journey as they hit the road to support the album. Produced by Mark Bilyeu.

Instrumental guests include: Cindy Woolf, John Anderson, Caleb Carter, Mark Bilyeu, Dallas Jones, "Dirty" Dave Harp, Randy Bearden, Bo Brown, Reed Herron, Nate Arbeitman, Jonathan Bentley
