Exuberant rock
18 MP3 Songs
ROCK: 70's Rock, ROCK: 80's Rock
Details:
Elton Motello is best known for his obnoxious cover of Plastic Bertrand's "Ca plane Pour Moi", entitled "Jet Boy Jet Girl" - hence the name of the compilation. The single coupled smarmy lyrics with Bertrand's backing track, somehow illustrating the mad style of this Englishman who had worked in Belgian studios. Elton Motello then "escaped (...) juvenility and became a half-baked quirky pop-rocker" (Ira Robbins).
The "Jet Boy Jet Girl" compilation gathers the best titles of Motello's two albums ("Victim of time" and "Pop Art"), mixing genuine band effort along with worthy singles. Consequently, a peculiar ode to a drunken father ('He's a rebel') lies on the verge of a stunning version of 'Pipeline', and synth-pop longing for a weird mood flirts with punk-rock à la Ramones.
Elton Motello certainly boasts, but he most likely boasts to entertain.
