Monkeyshine is comprised of two friends in their mid-40s, Tim Foley and Cate Doefer, who have been getting together to make music over the years, and on a whim, began writing songs together in the spring of 2004. Their songs are a hodgepodge of styles, jumping from country-tinged folk to angry alternative rock to jazzy pop to who-knows-what, but tied together with wryly humorous character-driven lyrics, strumming guitars & vocal harmonies. The songs touch on topics like marital infidelity, lost ambitions, fading dreams, regrets, boot-licking obsequiousness, chat room romance, borderline pedophiles, public access oddballs, not to mention homemade banana wine & picking up after your dog. Tim & Cate both continue to work their day jobs and raise their respective families on opposite sides of the lower half of the state of Michigan and are hard at work on a followup collection of songs.
