The group's founder, Michael Boykin, spent 7 ½ years with Slim and The Supreme Angels playing keyboards and singing 2nd lead. After answering the call of God to finish what he started in his hometown of Clinton, NC with his brothers and friends, Michael called on his friend, Ray Braswell, Jr., one of the musicians for Keith "Wonderboy" Johnson, and shared what the Lord had spoken to him. Within 3 weeks, the long anticipated recording was completed and ready for release. Before its release, however, Michael felt the need to give this project back to the Lord and on September 29, 2005, Michael Boykin & The Mighty Voices did just that.

Since the group had already begun their climb to success by singing on major programs with such greats as Slim and The Supreme Angels, Lee Williams & The Spiritual QC's, Damon Little and Nu Beginning, and Willis Pittman and The Burden Lifters, they were now ready to hit the Gospel music circuit.

The project's powerful title, "Young & Saved", has caught the attention of many young people wanting to know more about this new soul-stirring group on the gospel scene.
