REFLECTIONS

I have long since been impressed with the power and artistry of my rich heritage of Christian hymns and spiritual songs. While attending Azusa Pacific University for my undergraduate studies, I recall the college class in hymnology that motivated me to pay closer attention to the numerous hymns that were my âbread and butterâ as a bench kid in church. My parents were instrumental also in prompting each of their children to join in the congregational singing of the great hymns of faith. Furthermore, the hymnal was one of the first books after learning piano basics that challenged my sight-reading in my young training. Reflecting back to my beginning as a budding pianist, I am extremely awed by the rich training I received just from learning to sing and play the hymns. Thankful for the wealthy tradition, I can prayerfully, with praise, adoration, and enjoyment, worship the Lord on the âstringed instrument.â

With much prayerful thought, I have selected hymns for this album that through the years have challenged me, ministered, comforted and uplifted me through times of sorrow, struggle, and personal strife. Each song has, in its own way, stirred my spirit and prompted me to grow closer to my Savior and Lord Jesus Christ. It is my prayer and deep hope that this album with its precious songs will minister hope, comfort, cheer, conviction, correction and love to each of you. I encourage you to worship in prayer and devotion, reflecting Godâs care and love, His mercy and grace, and His peace and assurance as we prepare for an eternity of singing the praises of our great God.
