Details:
Unborn and merely an expectation, Michele Dawn kicked to the beat of rhythms in her motherâs womb whenever her mother was near music. âI like to think I came out singing,â she says. Music became an influence in her life very early and it wasnât long before the rest of the world could see her destiny.
âI donât want to spend my life wondering âWhat if?â she states as her reasoning for pursuing her passion of music with a relentless heart. Michele grew up in a small town in Ohio and she did most of the normal things children her age did in the 80s and 90s. The only thing different about her was her voice. She knew she had it, wanted to share it, and the only question was how to do it. So she began training herself early on with artists such as Anne Murray and Dolly Parton. She enjoyed all genres of music and never really focused on one in particular until 1991 when she first heard âVision of Loveâ by Mariah Carey and was completely awe-struck. âThat was it. I heard this voice and then I saw the video. I was so taken aback that I could barely speak and it was then that I knew I was meant to bring my love of writing and singing to the table somehow, someway,â she says. A second inspiration was born.
Michele spent the rest of her teen years devoting herself to her self-training and vocalization as well as deepening her devotion to writing poetry and song lyrics. She wasnât trained classically on any instruments, melodies just lingered in her mind and she would record what she could on a small recorder whenever the moment arose. Music was the saving grace next to her faith when times were tough. She finished high school in 1996 and went on to college and got her degree in education. She planted her feet and trusted that God would bring her to where she needed to be vocally and musically when it was time. And He has.
In 2004, Michele was introduced to Michael Daniel through a mutual friend and thus began a beautiful partnership and friendship that led to the beginning of their independent label, MDG Music LLC. Michael was a musician needing a vocalist for a song he had worked on while out in California, and Michele was just the voice that hit home with his musical creation. Together they created song after song one weekend at a time and brought an
uptempo mellow sound together with patience and hard work. Collaborating together to create Unbreakable Doll, they have spent 2 years learning the art of songwriting.
âI donât claim to be a monumental vocalist,â says Michele, âI just have something in my heart to say and when it needs to be said, I dream it and bring it to fruition. Itâs just imaginative creating.â Her vocals are mellow and clear, bringing a soft but strong sound to the ear. Her lyrics generate from an emotional spectrum ranging from past hurts to conceptual circumstances. Michaelâs music touches on almost every genre from pop to jazz to even contemporary and when asked what genre they are displaying, both smile and say, âWell. Weâre experimental.â Theyâve coined their sound with that term because the music crosses over so many spectrums itâs hard to narrow down just one. With their music, they hope to relay hope to those who have been scorned, hurt, or have lost a loved one, as well as merely just bring enjoyment to the listener.
âI just want the world to know that Iâve been there. If it reaches only one person or one million, the point is that I can relate to love, to hurt, to pain, to reaching deep down within yourself and finding the strength to love yourself and someone else again. My compassion is great and my heart is pure. Itâs all about sharing my heart with those who have been deeply affected by whatever life has brought them. Music is the heart and soul of who I am and who I was created to be. Itâs my passion.â
