Mike Nolan is a singer/songwriter who sang and wrote for the local Detroit rock band, Tearjerks in the mid 1990's. When the band split, Nolan began assembling musicians to record some new songs for a garage demo tape in order to book local gigs.

The three-song demo turned into a 9-song, 2-year labor-of-love CD called Venus (1999). The songs have melodic punch and seamless pop sensibility. The superior musicianship combine with Nolan's signature vocal style to deliver an exceptional collection of tracks.

Although the CD was pieced together over several interrupted sessions, the production is surprisingly rich and fluid, with understaed if not spare instrumentation. A few gems and surprises throughout. A true garage recording with big studio sound.
