Mike Clifford is an Austin, TX â based singer-songwriter whose music has been described as a cross between Texas honky-tonk and California country-rock. He has released 3 successful self-produced albums, charted 3 consecutive radio singles on the Texas Music Chart, and in 2005 was nominated as MTM Texas Male Vocalist of the Year. Clifford also competed last year in the Texas Country Star competition, sponsored by Universal South Records and the Texas Country Reporter TV Show, and won the Austin Regional event. His band currently gigs regularly all over the state of Texas.
Clifford and his band have just completed his 3rd original CD "The Heartbreak Grill And Bar", which he describes as âa Texas Dancehall concept albumâ. The disc features 11 new original country songs, 10 of which were penned by Clifford. The first single off the new album, the Waylon-esque barnburner âItâs All Texas Music To Meâ, was just released to radio in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and New Mexico, and has already been added on a number of radio stations.
Cliffordâs unique vocal style sets him apart from both the traditional âhat actsâ and the more contemporary vocalists in country music⦠his versatile tenor voice is instantly recognizable, and his 3-octave range is well-suited to the wide range of styles he covers with his original music.
