ABOUT THE BAND:
Growing up in the small town of Girard, Illinois, where most boys dreamed of becoming football stars, Micah Walk found his love for guitar. It soon became his means for expressing his thoughts on life. As a singer/songwriter, Micah has toured across the country by himself. Now at the helm of his own group, his songs have bloomed into a new life. John and Darin were members of a regionally popular group called Public Display of Funk for six years. They were also roommates with Dan during college, where they played together in countless music ensembles. After the college days, Micah and Darin met while working at a music store in Springfield. After some talk of creating a band, they asked John and Dan if they would join. Making use of Micahâs established name around Springfield, they simply starting calling themselves The Micah Walk Band.

ABOUT THE ALBUM:
Change is the debut album by this four-man band. Upon first listen, you will undoubtedly get at least one song stuck in your head, whether it is the catchy hook at the end of âLucky,â the whistling solo over âPaducah,â or the serenity of âRed.â You may even find yourself clapping along to âWar Danceâ and strutting your stuff to âLast One Home.â The album contains a nice blend of different styles, but not to the point of being confusing or distracting. Walkâs warm voice invites the listener into each song, like an old friend welcoming another into his home. The tasteful guitar work by Cardoni adds accompanying textures and melodies, while Holthaus and Hartman know when to keep it simple and when to break loose.

Micah wrote most of these songs before the band formed, and had already been performing them at solo shows (in some cases for a couple years). Yet, you will feel as if the band has been playing the songs together for years. Change represents the first stage of a young band, but not young musicians. It is elegant but not over polished, fun and also serious. Walk, Cardoni, Hartman, and Holthaus have built themselves a solid foundation on which to grow from.

âThis Micah Walk is really good. Heâs one of the best Iâve ever heard in my bar. You should check him out.â
- Jim Wavering
(owner of Marlyâs Pub in Springfield, IL)

ââ¦a funky feel and great grooves that emphasize the lyrics, supporting and carrying them.â
