Details:
James F. McCormick, III has been a music lover all of his life. He was a drummer in High School. He had such an ear for music that he could hear and had memorized all of the parts of all the other instruments in the band, especially the Bass parts. His music always has distinguished bass lines. After college he joined the U.S. Navy and joined the Navy Drum and Bugle Corp in San Diego, California.
Before he gave his life to Christ he had accumulated over 300 albums. Among his favorite artists were the whole Parliament/Funkadelic P-Funk boys & girls, the Barkays, the Ohio Players, Confunction, and many others. He had a strong liking for Contemporary Jazz artist like Herbie Hancock, Donald Byrd & the Blackbyrds, George Duke, Stanley Clark, Mandrill, and others.
After he gave his life to Christ he began using a Reel to Reel tape deck, a cassette tape deck, then a four track Mixer to compose songs that he used as he preached out on street corners, in prisons, and in churches (even though the church then were pretty hostile to anything new that didnât sound like something old that they loved). Oh yes, he was indeed a pioneer in his area when it came to Contemporary Gospel Music.
Since he was a drummer who didnât have to learn all of the musical scales he was limited as far as what he could do when it came to recording. But along came the computer! Now those who have an excellent ear for music can produce some awesome music without knowing the note C for the note A.
He has been Pastoring in the state of Florida for 16 years after several years of radio broadcast, prison/jail, and street ministry. On Youth Days at the church he joins in with the youth with his music and songs encouraging them to stir up the gift(s) of God that is within them. He always encourages the youth to sit down at the computer and compose songs so that they get the chance to minister in their own personal style.
