Who is David Mckiever? I am someone who views music as more than just entertainment. When I need to cry but no tears come, music is the therapist that cracks my shell. When I am slowing down at a time that I need to keep going, music is my coach. When the pressure and pain of life makes my heart hurt and my head feel like it will explode, music is my release valve. When words alone donât make enough sense, music is my translator. Music makes me happy and it lets me share the good things inside me along with the important things. The musical characters, the Wudds, that I created, represent everything that is good and creative about music. I came up with the idea for the Wudds back in 1994 while I was depressed and recoving from an injury. I put on some music at some point instead of just feeling sorry for myself, got some clay out and made a musical character that made me smile. Thus the first Wudd was born! For me, the Wudds are the embodiment of music itself. Their sole reason for existence is to encourage children to experience the positive aspects of not just listening to music but making their own. The Wudds are the ones who will understand someoneâs music when nobody else does. The Wudds are the ones who will listen to music that is made behind closed doors, or basements, or garages and will cheer you on when there is no one else to do it. The Wudds all live in Wuddsville but have been making house calls on frustrated musicians, both young and old, for many, many years. Everyone who has been down and out and was cheered up by some music can be sure that a Wudd or two was around. Everytime someone is dancing to the music somewhere, anywhere in this world, you can be sure that some Wudds are in the background dancing and playing along. Where the music is, the Wudds are. So after all that, who exactly is David Mckiever? I am someone who loves music. This first cd is a collaborative effort between myself and the incredibly talented musical genius, Jason Paige. No really...he is a musical genius, I'm not just saying that. The cd is a follow up to the children's book I wrote about my the first recorded contact with the Wudds, and is the first of many Wudd products to come.
