ROCK: Modern Rock, ROCK: Hard Rock
Details:
Yurko was a founding member and fronted the rock band SEVEN YEAR ITCH (www.sevenyearitch.org), the band released their CD entitled "TIME" in 1999, the single "2000 YEARS" went to rock radio and the video was picked up by MuchMusic receiving casual rotation. After touring Canada and the U.S. the band hit the studio to start working on a new CD, the sessions were cut short as Yurko was asked to join Nelly Furtado (Dreamworks) on her 'Whoa Nelly!' world tour.
The tour with NELLY FURTADO lasted a year and a half and included television appearances on Jay Leno's Tonight Show, Last Call with Carson Daly, Rosie O'Donnell, the VH1 Awards, Top Of The Pops (UK) and countless other performances around the world. The tour highlights included opening for U2, David Gray and Moby's Area:One along with festivals in England, Scotland, Australia, New Zealand and several European countries sharing the stage with great bands like the Foo Fighters, Destiny's Child, Queens Of The Stone Age and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Yurko wrote and produced the song "WIN THE CUP" which was used by the 2004 STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONS TAMPA BAY LIGHTNING throughout the playoffs as they hit the ice before the start of each game. After Tampa had won the Stanley Cup the NHL used the song on the Stanley Cup Championship DVD.
Recent (2005) recordings of Yurko's guitar playing can be heard on AMANDA STOTT (EMI) produced by Jon Levine (Philosopher Kings, Nelly Furtado) and Andreas Carlsson (Backstreet Boys, Bon Jovi), EMMA ROBERTS (Sony) produced by Brian Malouf (Foo Fighters, Eve 6) and SOCIAL CODE (Universal) with producer Arnold Lanni (Simple Plan, Our Lady Peace).
Yurko has also recorded and/or toured with several successful Canadian independent artists such as Likota Son, Smeer, Lucie Idlout, Candida Clauser, Trust, Anjulie, Rachel Robinson, Vivian George, Carlo Coppola, Mary Zilba and even hit the stage with legendary guitar slinger Kim Mitchell on his Greatest Hits Tour.
