Details:
This long-awaited follow-up to Yrsan Daro's debut CD, "Dreams of Wind and Water", takes us on a bold new journey to the far reaches of the creative imagination. While we still hear Daro's signature, scintillating piano work in many of the pieces here, we are also treated to a wide orchestral palette, ranging from the simple violins of The Transcendental Way, to the shimmering aural spacescapes of Jovian Sunrise and Nebula. Along the way, there's even a pure percussion jam, Pulse Point, with instruments from all over the world joining in. The journey comes to an end with Dreamland, a gentle and contemplative piano solo, which brings us full circle back to the opening piece of the Dreams.

As with Daro's first CD, we are once again surfeited with beautiful melodies and complex harmonic and thematic structures. The music as a whole is a powerful fusion of classical, avant-garde, jazz and world elements, blending seamlessly together. Many of the pieces have the kind of breadth and intensity found in the best film music, and it's no surprise, then, to learn that Daro spent many years composing scores for theatrical productions. His extensive classical training, as well as his long experience playing in jazz, blues, and rock bands are also very much in evidence.
