Maryam Becerra was born and raised on the central California Coast. She began piano lessons and writing music at age four and was classically trained for the next twelve years in piano, guitar, violin and musical theory. After putting classical on the back burner Maryam started "rockin' out" and playing with garage bands, family outings and small private events. With endless tunes in mind and on paper, Maryam started seriously recording her music in the late 1990's. All of the music and lyrics are written and recorded by Maryam. God, life experience, questions, wonder and love inspire her. Drawn To My Nights is a small sample of religion, sexuality and deep love that comes from within...music that the thirsty soul can drink and be satisfied.Recently, Maryam and friends, Mark Garber, (guitar), and Drew Nobbs, (bass), got together and created Iguana Moon. A new band featuring all original music with mixed genres to form a kind of an “alternative, bad boy” style. Still on an extreme high from their first gig in the Santa Cruz Mountains surrounded by the giant redwoods, Iguana Moon is working on their first CD, which promises to mesmerize, plus a whole lot more!!!
