Hey everyone,
Our biography is below, but we'd really like to take this space to thank you for listening to "Arms of the Town". Its our latest release and we're pretty jazzed about it. If you've never heard us before we suggest trying out "Anything", or "Snare Drum Hearts" first. They're our current faves.
If you like what you hear and you want to help us feed our very hungry van, buy your own copy of "Arms of the Town" and we'll be your friends for-eva.
Also, if you've got a minute or two, click the link to our website on the left side of this page to get the full lowdown on the various happenings in the Old Sweethearts' universe.
We're not sure where you live yet, but chances are we want to play there. If you know of any great clubs, bands or anyone that you think might like our music please take a second and click the e-mail link on the left of this page. It'll only take a moment, and we're big fans of good advice when it comes to playing your town.
Hope to hear from you,
the Old Sweethearts
ps. Catwoman is probably the worst movie ever. I realize this is totally unrelated, but its playing in the background here while I'm typing all this and I had an uncontrollable urge to share my opinion.

An indie-folk group just two years in the making, Buffalo NY's the Old Sweethearts began in 2004 as the solo project of singer/songwriter and guitarist Roger Bryan. Bryan entered a studio with a rag-tag band of Buffalo music alumni whose former bands were an ecclectic who's who of the early 00's Buffalo music scene. Those first sessions led to "In Regards to Your Affairs", a collection of Bryan's early folk material given new life by the group's unique and sometimes bizzare studio work. Though the album recieved warm reviews (earning them opening slots with Ben Lee, Evan Dando, Blue Rodeo, 54/40, Kathleen Edwards, and their friends Two Cow Garage, to name a few), they were already hard at work on their next release. By then that rag-tag group of musicians were solidifying into a serious band and wanted a recording that reflected the vast changes taking place in their sound.
The summer of 2005 saw the release of "Arms of the Town". Alive with lush vocal harmonies and strange instrumentation, the Old Sweethearts gave a nod to the eccentric arrangements of certain Beach Boys, or Beatles records while continuing to develop the sound which can only be described as their own. The album, like everything about the Old Sweethearts, resonates with a rusty optimism indiginous to their native Buffalo, NY. The city built for a million people, but home to only 300,000 and falling.
The group is spending the rest of the year touring in support of "Arms of the Town". Their "music first" grass-roots style of promotion has thusfar proven effective, further cementing the Old Sweetheart's reputation as a band to pay close attention to in the indie/folk/pop/rock world.
--------------Press:---------------------
"The Old Sweethearts are the rare type of band that are cool enough for indie nerds who pump Wilco and The Shins, and solid enough for no-attitude music lovers reared on Neil Young and Bruce Springsteen." Niagara Falls Gazzette
On arms of the town:
"Not just a major step forward for the Old sweethearts, but independent record-making in buffalo." Buffalo News
"One of the brightest beacons on the Buffalo music horizon"
"This band is gaining converts in mythical proportions with their live shows and this disc." Best of WNY
