The project was created in Genoa, Italy, in 2001, as a result of the meeting between Max Rolff and Carles Zanetti. Their goal has been, from the beginning, to create a personal sound based on the digital manipulation of original pre-recorded analogical material. Since then, lots of great music has been created by this collaboration, mixing together "cooked" beats with fine arrangements.
The melodic lines and the arrangements are conceived and recorded in a traditional way, and then transformed and blended with electronic sounds, creating a frame where improvised lines converge.
Sax, flute, electric guitar and percussion float dramatically on the beat, energetically performed by the electric bass of Max Rolff and the drumming of Carles Zanetti. The voices and the languages of the world find a place in this picture, creating images and visions adding to the music a multimedia experience.
Lots of Oleo's music has been published in many compilations around the world.
