Details:
One Accord is a contemporary worship band at Faith Lutheran Ministries in Lincoln, Nebraska, where they have served since 1999. Blessed with an abundance of original worship songs and creative pop-rock updates of traditional Lutheran hymns, they previously released the studio album "Shelter On The Way" in 2002 and have distributed their worship resources at no charge (see below.)
In 2005, the 8-year old son of One Accord vocalist David Loewe was stricken with cancer, which, while treatable, threatened ruin to a family without health insurance. To help raise funds, a selection from a several month's worth of tracks mixed and recorded directly to CD during worship services at Lincoln, Nebraska's Faith Lutheran Church was reviewed and remastered to compile this live album. Without overdubs, remixes, or second takes, it is vividly "real": there are rough edges musically and technically, but also wonderfully heartfelt performances. From the raucous run-away "Go Tell It On The Mountain" to the yearning "Today Your Mercy Calls Us"; from the tender "Baby in a Barn", to the exultant gospel-fueled revisiting of "Praise To The Lord, The Almighty" that wraps up the album, styles include straight rock, jazz, a capella gospel quartet, African-American gospel, and mainstream pop.
The title refers to Jesus Christ, the Living One; also to Ian Loewe, who by God's grace is also still alive; and to the fact that this is our first live CD.
This album also provides a large selection from the songs in the "One Accord Hymnbook", available free online at http://hymnbook.marxhausen.net . This project distributes sheet music, lyrics, multimedia, and other resources for a growing list of contemporary hymn re-arrangements and new worship music in a variety of styles, developed for worship by One Accord and made available under the Free Praise License.
