Details:
A peaceful summer night in the wetlands is filled with the sounds of calling frogs and toads. Now you can capture these sounds for your relaxation enjoyment. Each of these recordings was made in the wilds without human noise. They were recorded on studio-grade digital equipment by Kevin Colver, respected as a world-class nature recordist.
Here is a brief description of each track:
American Toad - Recorded in an estuary of Massachusetts with gentle ocean waves in the background, these trilling toads are advertising their charms to the female toads. A Song Sparrow and Red-winged Blackbirds call nearby.
Boreal Chorus Frog - High in the Uinta mountains, Boreal Chorus Frogs call as an evening thunderstorm moves through.
Bullfrog - Our largest frog in North America, this group of Bullfrogs challenge one another through the night.
Northern Pacific Treefrog - This is the species that calls with the well known "ribbiit ribbit" call that Hollywood sound producers like to attach to nearly any frog they can imagine. But this is the original. Only the Pacific Treefrog really "ribbits."
New Mexico Spadefoot Toad - The bone dry creosote desert gets soaked for a few days each year during summer thunderstorms. This group of spadefoot toads dug out from deep burrows to call for only three intense nights before digging in again until next year.
Northern Leopard Frog - The snow has barely melted when Leopard Frogs start their all night singing session. This recording, made at midnight, also includes Virginia Rails, Green-winged Teal, and Cinnamon Teal ducks. These frogs were recorded at Fish Springs National Wildlife Refuge, an oasis in the Great Basin Desert.
Red-Spotted and Woodhouse's Toads - Deep in red rock canyon country of the Southwest a tiny brooklet develops after summer rains. This is the signal for Red-Spotted and Woodhouse's Toads to sing. The Woodhouse's Toad has the shorter and lower pitched song.
Spring Peeper - Anyone wandering the evening woods of the Northeast will recognize and love the sound of Spring Peepers. Several birds are also heard preparing to settle down for the night.
Hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars were spent in the collection of these pristine sounds of nature. Thank you for supporting this effort through the purchase of these and other sounds by Kevin Colver. He continues his efforts in capturing and saving the beautiful sounds of nature.
