On September 1st, 2011, Canadian Folk-Dreampop band Inlet Sound will release their first EP since the formation of the bandâs current five-piece lineup in August 2010. The EP, titled Dream Awake, represents a significant step forward for the band both sonically and thematically. Their new lineup has allowed them to explore a unique sound that is lush and dreamy while also being reminiscent of other up-and-coming folk acts like Mumford and Sons, Wintersleep and Frightened Rabbit. With assistance from veteran sound engineer Danny Greenspoon (Great Big Sea, Spirit of the West), Inlet Sound has created something that captures the spirit of youthful optimism within everyone while also striving to construct a musical framework for their ideas that is both interesting and instantly catchy.

In part, the uniqueness of the bandâs sound on Dream Awake can be attributed to the personal and stylistic diversity of its members, whose musical influences range from folk to indie rock to electronica and shoegaze. The band members themselves, who hail from Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal â among other places â have come together to blend elements of all of these genres, incorporating classically folky instruments like violin, mandolin and accordion alongside lush electronic instrumentation to create a sound that is both entirely unique and unmistakably Canadian.
