Bio:
Lu Gottí, was born in Leon, Spain, in 1983.
Early on, it was the passion of his father, Alejandro, a great music fan, which pushed Lu Gottí to pursue music. In fact, he began his formal studies when he was only twelve years old, under the auspices of the sax player and producer Rubén Morán.
After graduating from the Provincial Conservatory of Music of León, he continued his training in Madrid, where he took lessons in Composition, Saxophone and Combo Playing with Bob Sands at the Creative Music School of Madrid.
Lu's great potential became apparent in 2002 when, after auditioning in Barcelona, he was awarded a scholarship to study at the prestigious âBerklee College of Music,â in Boston (Massachusetts, USA). Consequently, his American adventure began the following year, increasing his knowledge with professors of such great stature as George Garzone, Ed Tomassi, Shannon LeClaire, Jim Odgren and Dave Santoro, among others.
The development of Lu's extraordinary technique and musical vocabulary did not go unnoticed, and during 2004 he became involved in many different projects and collaborations. Travelling to New York for the recording of âThe Funk On Me,â Lu recorded with such legends as Fred Wesley (trombonist for James Brown and George Clinton) and Kat Dyson (guitarist for Prince). Working with the band, âThe Funk On Meâ, Lu was invited to play at the âB.B.King Blues Festivalâ, accompanying the famous guitar player and his band, throughout B.B. Kingâs Spanish tour.
In 2005, Maceo Parker invited Lu to join him on his âSchoolâs Inâ tour and accompany him at the Roxy Theater in Boston. There, Maceo introduced Luis to the American public as âthe Spanish promise of Funkâ. Just a few weeks later, Luis performed with the acclaimed singer Shemekia Copeland, daughter of famous blues guitarist, Johnny Clyde Copeland, during her concerts at Boston's Regatta Bar.

True to form, Luis earned his Degree from Berklee College of Music with the highest honours: Bachelor's of Music, Summa Cum Laude, specializing in Saxophone Performance.

Upon his return to Spain, he alternated teaching and performances as soloist. His versatility led him to collaborate with diverse musical personalities and to participate in numerous recording and television productions, both as a musician and as an actor (acting credits include: âLolaâ Coca Cola commercial, Noite de Jazz).

In addition to his impeccable musical ability, Luis possesses an undeniably attractive physique, a factor which obviously influenced his selection as protagonist in Coca Cola's 2007 âLola Coca Colaâ commercial.

Luis Gutiérrez's blazing professional trajectory to date makes it obvious why he is a top saxophonist on the national/international scale. His first album, self-composed and produced and entitled âCrossing Fingersâ was released in 2010. Featuring collaborations with musicians like Bobby Sparks (organist for RH Factor and Marcus Miller) and Louis Cato (drummer for Norah Jones and Satya Project, Marcus Miller, among others), Lu's update on classic funk grooves and arrangements proves that he has kept the âSpanish promise of funk,â and turned it into a reality.
