With the âChemical Burn EP,â the Antwerp duo âThe Walton Hoaxâ (Jeroen Vande Voorde and Peter van Ewijk) delivers a stunning debut. Containing an atmosphere reminiscent of Jamie Woon, James Blake, Burial or Moderat, this first album is a delicate mix of UK garage, 2-step, ambient and dubstep, combined with singer-songwriter vocals. The layered sound of The Walton Hoax is infused with deeply resonating basses, ethereal synths, raging beats, intriguing lyrics and a whirlwind of effects, resulting in a fresh new dubstep sound that incorporates subtle references to old-school influences.

In three mesmerizing tracks, The Walton Hoax offers a wide range of images and emotions. The EPâs title-track âChemical Burnâ caused a slight storm in its first weeks online. Partly because of its hauntingly beautiful music video, the song was viewed 20.000 times on Youtube, it was shared more than 5.000 times on facebook and heavily promoted by prominent dubstep sites and international music blogs. The second song of the album âExit Strategyâ continues the exploration of the darker sides of human existence, using old soul samples and a minimalistic sonic approach. The B side of the album contains the sublime âSublight,â for which The Walton Hoax has partnered up with the upcoming American singer-songwriter Mimi Page, who has just finished recording her own debut album in Los Angeles (CA) together with platinum producer Warren Huart (James Blunt, The Fray, Korn, etc.).

The âChemical Burn EPâ is merely The Walton Hoaxâs first careful step. Due to the overwhelming reactions and a continuously growing fan base, however, the Antwerp duo has decided to offer their debut in both digital and vinyl form. The many encouraging reactions have sparked international interest and the support of artists like Moderat and Mt Eden. In the meantime, The Walton Hoax is working on a live-set so that they might take their show on the road. Coming Fall, a free EP with remixes of the Chemical Burn tracks will appear, after which new original material will be released.
