In Theory is the follow up to Sound & Spirit from the previous year and features a darker, more aggressive electronic ambient element (Dreamtime / Columcille, Tripping, White Out, Sunpool, Ashkenaza / The Space Inside) throughout the recording. A few solo 6 and 12 string acoustic pieces (The Wheel, MEP. Touch, Saint J. Peace) are interspersed to create a sense of balance similar to the live concert presentations during this fertile period. At this point, PB was fully melding together all of his acoustic and electric influences...usually within the same piece. Full bodied layers of electronic loops combined with all out distorted solos performed on an array of acoustic guitars were becoming the norm.
