It's taken quite a while to get this album ready. Rather than spending my time as a full-time musician during the past year, my wife and I have been remodeling a rather old house on the Normandy coast. Much of the music has been ready for some time, but the techinicalities of re-recording, preparing CD packaging and other such techicalities has slowed up the process since I am more of an old-fashioned guy with limited 21st-century computer skills.

Some of the songs on this album date back to a number of years and others are much more recent. "Rainy Day Blues," for example, is a song I wrote when I was about 20 years old. (I'm not going to say how long ago that was!) It interested a producer enough to his taking it into contract, but as he never found the right artist to perform it, the song is now entirely back with me. What a strange feeling it was when I first signed that contract...a bit like letting go of a child.

I am already working (mentally, mostly) on the next album, some of the songs for which are already written, and others which I hope will come back to mind as I didn't always get up in the middle of the night to jot down the inspiration of the moment. With part of the house now remodeled, I hope to spend much more time in the coming year creating music rather than walls!
