Whenever I meet new people, we always seem to talk about a lot of things including where we grew up, where we from (where we call home), what our families are like, and how on earth we came to do the things we're doing!
I'm one of the fortunate ones. I get to do what I love best - putting words to music! Like the song on my first CD says, I like who I am and what I do. I thought this might be the best way to tell you a little bit about myself and keep my friends updated on my coming and goings and the things I'm feeling passionate about these days.
My name is Daniel O Yesin, A.K.A. OTI. I am a Nigerian, born in Benin City, then Bendel state of Nigeria , originally from Delta state. I completed my primary /secondary education in Benin City , after which I attended Uwiafo Academy of Music and Theater Art where I graduated as a song writer (diploma in music).
I completed my first demo while I was in high school with a band call "The Rockers". Over the years I join three other bands. All this was before I became a Christian. In 1986 I became a born again Christian and things started changing! On January 1st 1990 I was involved in a motor vehicle accident and after I recovered I studied music.
In the beginning most pastors would not allow me to minister in their congregation because I wasn't playing the conventional Gospel Music. My songs were fast and mainly reggae style so I was isolated, but just like all who came before me, I dare to dream - never gave up - pressing forth. I had to stay true to my self, true to my heart and true to my calling; that's why my first CD was titled REVELATION, because it survived. My latest CD is titled DESTINY! I strongly believe in destiny - every picture tells a story and in every life there's a purpose; I want to fulfill my destiny.
THE MUSIC IS NOTHING WITHOUT THE MESSAGE AND I'VE GOT THE MESSAGE, I BRING IT STRONG BUT I KEEP IT PURE.
