After meeting in Wellesley Ontario Canada in the summer of 1999, Corey Shantz and Doug Holst soon recognized each otherâs musical writing abilities and began combining their rock/alternative ideas that have grown into the songs you hear on their debut album OF THE DEEP - the swell. As the two grew together in writing style, the ideas and songs took shape. With Dougâs lead guitar hooks and Coreyâs vocal edge and driving rhythms, the combination proved to be a match.

OF THE DEEP proceeded to enter the studio and recording stage in the spring of 2005, completing the project in late summer of 2006 and releasing The Swell on September 13 2006. With the help of Dave Thompson (Studio Indigo) and Andrew Horrocks (AME Recording Studio), the 13-song compilation offers high-energy choruses as well as emotion stirring melodies and lyrical content.
