BLUES: Acoustic Blues, FOLK: Folk Blues

Details:
Owen Poteat is an original acoustic blues songwriter and entertainer from the Blue Ridge mountains of North Carolina. This studio-recorded CD is filled with pure, honest music with lots of acoustic guitar and "Mississippi saxophone" solos on his many Lee Oskar blues harmonicas. His distinctive voice is sometimes raspy yet many times crystal clear, and always honest, up front and just right for the mood of the song. Then there's the deep thump of his trademark Brazilian "Box Drum". You'll hear very quickly that this is no "wimpy" acoustic guitar CD... no this thing has a punchy bottom to it that forces your feet to tap along.

His style alternates between driving acoustic blues and simple, pure ballads, many with subtle, hidden meanings. The title cut song, Time Marches On, speaks of growing old and decisions we make along the way. It ends with the words "Old rivers dry up a little more everyday, Old trees break where once they use to sway, Old people wish for the good old younger days, Time Marches On". The more jazzy "Whatcha Wanna Do" starts out with "It's Saturday morning just you and me baby, we can go for a trip or just be lazy, Whatcha Wanna Do?". Then there's the unusual song about his shoes, to be specific his Merrells. This song, which states "You can tell a lot about who I am just from my old shoes" is just full of hidden meanings.

We hope you enjoy "Time Marches On".
