From the energy of "Act of War" to the hushed despair of "Sepulchre", Owen Duff's first EP is a luminous collection of existential tear-jerkers and home-made acoustic epics, performed and produced enitrely by the man himself.
7 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Acoustic, FOLK: Modern Folk
Details:
Owen Duff has been obsessed with music since before he could speak - his first word was "record", and he was a discriminating consumer of them from age three (Dexys Midnight Runners and A-Ha were early favourites). At four he started piano lessons, coming up with his first tune (about the weather) at five. In the coming years Owen took drum lessons, briefly learned the cello, and taught himself "bastardised, oddly-tuned guitar" and bass.
Songwriting continued, and in his teens he started adding lyrics to create his first proper songs. He also experimented with recording and slowly, through a series of rented rooms, built up a home studio which he used to record the songs on 'A tunnel, closing in'. This EP marks the culmination of over 18 months worth of writing and recording, and features seven artful songs inspired by a trip around Europe that Owen took in the summer and autumn of 2002.
