2 Real 4 da Mind
It is hard to find someone who does not like at least one of 2 Real 4 da Mindâs Songs. 2 Real 4 da Mind has music for everyone with their mix of fast slick rhymes, harmony, incredible energy, meaningful lyrics, and beats that can rock any club. 2 Real 4 da Mind is not only a hip-hop group they are also very involved in the community, by traveling to local elementary schools to read to children and to discuss racism and stereotypes. Members K-OSS and Lyrical Hitman along with Boulder High teacher Christy Spearn-Smith created a high school course on diversity, which is still being taught to this day.
2 Real 4 da mind consists of members K-OSS (Jimmy Macias), Lyrical Hitman (Larry Harris), Siklone (Anthony Romero), and DJ K.B. (Kenny Brown). Each one comes from a different background and brings a different flavor to the table. K-OSS, who is the fastest rapper in the group, is an amazing song writer and runs the recording studio. Lyrical Hitman smoothes out the songs with his vocal talent and creates most of the beats. Siklone, who is also very quick-tongued, brings an R&B aspect with his vocals. DJ K.B. is the groupâs official DJ and has over 20 years of experience.
2 Real 4 da Mindâs song âStoriesâ is a fan favorite. This song has a comic feel to it with stories of the groupâs experiences in clubs where girls look good from afar -but are far from good. âHow We Floâ is a good example of 2 Real 4 da Mindâs versatility with fast paced lyrics that twist the tongue and harmonized singing in the hooks. âWatz Upâ is one of the groupâs most political songs. This song speaks to everyone no matter the race, nationality, or economical status. âWatz Upâ brings up issues like poverty, privilege, violence, disease, and love. âPlay it Smooth,â which is a group favorite as well as another fan favorite, has a reggae style beat and hook. This song talks about how hard it is being a hip-hop star when you want a serious relationship but only groupies come your way.
âA Storm is Cominâ is set to release September 30th and will be available at multiple music stores within Boulder county, the Denver Metro area.
