Crisp but not overpowering, comforting but challenging - I am told that people really connect with my music about the human condition and our daily Christian walk.
14 MP3 Songs
GOSPEL: Contemporary Gospel, GOSPEL: Traditional Gospel
Details:
This album is a collection of songs and music that has been circulating around in my head for the last ten years or so. I am excited to finally have it in a form that I can share with you. I hope that it will be comforting, throught-provoking, and inspiring to you in your personal walk with the One who created us all.
I guess my music is all about being human. For me it is encouragement, therapy, and prayer, in about as pure a form as I can express it. My sincerest hope is that you can find something in common with the struggles and joys that I have experienced in my life and I am trying to convey in my songs.
I like to think of my music as crisp but not overpowering, comforting but still challenging. I use simple themes and messages, but if you dig a little deeper, there are more complex overtones and connections there as well. I have been told that people can really connect to my music because of their own experiences.
The title track "God Has Been Good To Me" is a simple introduction to my music, expressing just what the title says. "The Feet of Jesus" is a laid-back, southern-gospel-inspired rocker about prayer. "Perfect" keeps the ball rolling with the realization that we will never be perfect, and that is OK. In "New Life", I reflect on the parallels of birth, salvation, and eternity. "I Will Praise You" is a folk-inspired praise tune with a mandolin that explores the various stages of our Christian walk.
I change the pace a little with "The Rock That Is Higher Than I", a reflective acoustic guitar piece that was inspired by a couple of classic hymns. "Easy To Fall" is a piano, vocal, and cello piece about how fragile we are. "Damascus Road" is an eclectic piece about coming to the point in our life where you realize you have been doing everything wrong. "Addict's Prayer" also deals with this theme, when you just can't believe you have been cought by the same sin again.
If anyone knows us, it is God, and "No One Knows Me Like You" is a powerful affirmation of that. In "Will", word paintings and a word with two meanings help me make a decision about my life. "Stand Up" is flat-out up-tempo encouragement to do something with your faith.
"I'm Already Home (Brandon's Song)" is about the loss of a tiny life but the hope of better things to come (I can't listen to or perform this song yet without crying myself). Finally, "Sleep Song" is a tender lullaby inspired by and for my children.
Thanks for looking - If there is any message that I would like to leave you with, it is the hope we have when we obey God's word. My hope is that my music will pull open a little tiny corner of the sky and let you catch a glimpse of what Jesus has promised us.
