26-year-old Singer/Songwriter Roland Satterwhite has recently put together a band of top-notch musicians to play his sophisticated, often moody songs. Benedek Band is in the final stages of recording their first album, "Love and Discipline", which will be available in April 2005. Fans first got a taste of Satterwhite's song-writing skills on his recent album, "Songs of Roland", an eight-song debut that was entirely composed, recorded, and produced by Satterwhite. The album, released under the name "Roland Benedek", showcases Satterwhite's multi-instrumental and vocal talents as well as his affinity for writing beautiful melodies. With Benedek Band, Satterwhite has found talented and sensitive musicians to showcase the quiet intensity of his voice, and to produce a sound that is highly original and intensely personal. Satterwhite, whose stage presence as a singer is both vulnerable and charismatic, has a voice often described as a cross between Jeff Buckley and Nick Drake. Benedek Band benefits from both Satterwhite's natural instinct for songwriting and from the sensitivity and virtuosity of all of it's players. The result is truly eclectic and compelling. Benedek Band performs regularly on the Lower East Side in New York City, and will be having a CD release show in late April for their first band album. Roland is also works professionally as a Latin violinist, and his truly amazing violin playing makes an appearance on both of his records.
