Wow! Anyone who mixes Super Mario Bros. with Salsa and Hammond organ has a very special place in my heart!! That's SUPER happenin'!!
-VanessaRodrigues (Check her out!)
Spies is one of the best young jazz organists I've heard
-Carl Abernathy (cahlsjukejoint.blogspot.com)
âChris is one of these guys who looks like they should be working at Ben & Jerryâs or something, but as you can hear heâs a fire breathing great organ player.â
-Skip Heller (Live radio brodcast on WRTI Philadelphia)
You may have seen Chris Spies in Las Vegas playing keyboards with George Clinton or bumped in to him on Duval Street
making music in Key West.
Chris has spent most of the new millenium travelling the country playing with many different artists, some you've heard of and some you wouldn't want to hear again.
Meanwhile, all this time, he was secretly recording and compiling the CD you see before you.
Thought to be lost due to a hard drive failure in 2002, these songs were all but forgotten.
Two years later when the songs resurfaced, they probably wouldn't have seen the light of day if it weren't for the tenacity of Pair-a-Dice Records impresario Eddie Standifer.
Eddie saw the magic in these tunes and wouldn't stop until the CD was in production.
Running the gamut from New Orleans secondline to James Brown
inspired, psychedelic space funk this CD contains something for everyone.
Energetic performances by such great musicians as Ricky Sebastian, John Milham, Corky Hughes and Dave Yoke make this a must have for every record collection!
Also includes two rare out of print tracks from Secondhand Jive's self-titled debut CD.
If Bruce Lee and Sun Ra had a Bar-B-Q at Lynyrd Skynyrds doublewide trailer before a Medeski Martin and Wood show, this is the music that would be playing on the stereo.
All profits from the sale of this CD will hopefully reunite
these fine musicians to record a subsequent CD that will keep the dream of INTERSTELLAR TRAILERPARK JAZZ alive.
Catchy inspired instrumentals with many special guest appearances.
